The Arduan Logbook is the personal record traditionally kept by an Arduan throughout the entirety of their life.

More than a simple journal, it is a lifelong document of knowledge, observation, and study, written from the moment an Arduan learns proper diction until the day of their death.

In Meta, the keeping of a Logbook is treated as a strict and unquestioned tradition. Arduans are expected to begin their personal records from the earliest stage at which they are able to write, and to continue adding to them without interruption for the rest of their lives. Heroes who become Arduans are likewise expected to begin their own Logbooks from the first day of their new existence, maintaining them until their final day in the same manner as any other member of Arduan society.

Once an Arduan dies, their Logbook is preserved, archived, and indexed within the Great Library. In this way, each individual record becomes part of the wider body of knowledge that sustains Forgottenland and helps protect the realities connected to it. The Logbook is therefore not merely personal property, but also a future contribution to the collective memory of Arduan civilization.

Meaning for an Arduan's inner-self.

[editar | editar código]

A Logbook does not exist only to record discoveries unknown to the world at large. Instead, it is used to document anything the Arduan themselves has never seen, understood, or studied before, even if that subject has already been recorded by others. Because of this, Logbooks often contain observations on familiar species, repeated events, and even the Arduan’s own thoughts, behaviors, and limits. In many cases, they are also used as instruments of self-study, allowing Arduans to examine their own nature and, at times, even question their own intelligence.

Exceptions and Limitations

[editar | editar código]

The right to create and keep a Logbook is not universal. Terra Arduans, not being regarded as intelligent beings within this system, are not permitted to write or possess a Logbook of their own. For the same reason, they are also forbidden from entering the Great Library or directly feeding themselves from its knowledge. This restriction further distinguishes the Meta Arduans as both the keepers and the rightful inheritors of recorded understanding across realities.
